1) Write for the web - humans don't 'read' a page. They scan the page jumping around to eye catching points. Three seconds is about all you've got!
2)Chunk it - write shorter paragraphs, use small words and create sections of texts using headlines or visual breaks. Remember we're still scanning.
3)Write for the reader - if you're selling try to make your copy reader centric. tell them why your product is good and how it WILL help them.
4)Grammar counts - your English teacher was correct. Spelling errors, punctuation snafus and grammatical faux pas reflect poorly on you and your site. Make liberal use of the grammar features in your word processor!
